Jonathan David is subject to interest from as many as six Premier League clubs, with the Lille striker having revealed this week what he’s looking for from his new team.

David will leave Lille on a free transfer in the summer after five years with the Ligue 1 team.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a successful stint at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and this season has 23 goals in 38 appearances, and this, coupled with his lack of transfer fee, has attracted an army of teams interested in signing him.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Chelsea and Liverpool have been joined by Newcastle United in targeting David, according to i Sport.

Speaking to CBS Sports following Canada’s 2-1 win over the United States during the international break, he dropped a hint over his future.

“If I do end up going, I have to push myself to play at the very highest level,” David said. “After that, obviously when you play at a big club, your position is never guaranteed and you need to fight. I’m never guaranteed anywhere I go to start or play every game. I have to perform and I’m willing to fight.

“I know it’s an important year, it’s a big decision, so I’ll make a wise decision.”

What’s the right move for Jonathan David?

Liverpool are currently the club playing at the highest level that is interested in him, but equally Newcastle and Chelsea could be involved in the Champions League next season via their Premier League finish. Man Utd and Spurs could still qualify via the Europa League, too.

David has proven himself at that standard by scoring nine goals in 14 games for Lille in the competition this year.

Analysis has shown that Man Utd is the best move David could make among these available options – even if Crystal Palace are actually his best bet.
