The Lille hitman has enjoyed a productive season, netting 23 goals and producing 10 assists in 41 games for Bruno Genesio’s side, who reached the last 16 of the Champions League before losing out to Borussia Dortmund.

Long touted for a move to a major club, David’s future is in his own hands as the summer approaches as he is out of contract at the end of the season and will, therefore, be a free agent.

Now the 25-year-old Canada international has opened talks, with Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd already at the table.

It is pointed out that many other teams have expressed an interest in the player but only these three teams are actively seeking to sign him.

The report goes on to state that Jonathan David’s heart is “clearly leaning towards a move to the Premier League”, but no final decision has been made.

Jonathan David wants LaLiga

Earlier this week, David seemed to suggest that his future was in Spain.

Speaking to the ‘It’s Called Soccer’ podcast, the striker told Gary Neville: “I think I can adapt to every league. Every league has its differences. The Premier League is a lot faster and more physical than all of the other leagues. But for me, I grew up watching a lot of LaLiga and for me, that would be my preferred league.

“That is the league that I enjoyed watching the most so one day I would like to play there Will that happen? I don’t know. But we’ll see where the future takes us.”

It may be that no suitable LaLiga club has expressed an interest in David, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €28.6 million, yet with the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona all requiring depth in the centre-forward position, the signal has been sent.
