Jorgen Strand Larsen’s move to Crystal Palace in jeopardy as Eagles go cold on £45m deal for Wolves forward – which could have ramifications for Jean-Philippe Mateta

Jorgen Strand Larsen’s move to Crystal Palace is in the balance with the Eagles yet to submit a formal offer for the Norwegian striker.

Palace had discussed the move with Wolves and the clubs appeared to have settled on a deal worth at least £45million.

Yet Daily Mail Sport understands the Palace hierarchy have never been entirely convinced about the deal and now appear to have gone cold – at least for now.

Whether this is a move designed to lower the price for Strand Larsen remains to be seen.

Despite failing to score from open play in the Premier League this season, the 25-year-old remains highly regarded and had also attracted an offer from Leeds, as well as interest from Nottingham Forest.

As Daily Mail Sport revealed on Thursday, Forest have made at least two offers for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who Palace value at a minimum £40m.

But if Palace do not proceed with the Strand Larsen deal, it may affect their willingness to sanction Mateta’s departure.

Mateta has made clear his wish to leave and would consider a move to Forest, while Juventus and AC Milan have also shown interest. Palace and Forest meet at the City Ground on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Forest are considering a second move for Yasin Ayari after having a £20million offer rejected for the Brighton midfielder.

Ayari, 22, has established himself as a key player for Brighton. He has made 23 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring four times and registering one assist. He has also earned 17 caps for Sweden.
