Jose Mourinho wants shock Man Utd return

Jose Mourinho believes he has ‘unfinished business’ at Manchester United, according to a report.

The Portuguese coaching legend is out of a job after being sacked by AS Roma on January 16 and speculation about his future has abounded. Mourinho has been most prominently linked with a Saudi switch after already announcing previously that he will one day work in the Kingdom.

Newcastle, post-Gareth Southgate England and Portugal have also been mentioned as potential next jobs for the former Chelsea and Man Utd coach, but it seems the 61-year-old has his heart set on a spectacular return to Old Trafford.

At least that’s according to the Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan, who claims that Mourinho is convinced that he still has ‘unfinished business’ with the Red Devils after being sacked by the club in December 2018.

Mourinho back at Man Utd?

“I’m told that Jose Mourinho is very keen on coming back to Manchester United should the opportunity arise,” Keegan said on the It’s All Kicking Off podcast. “He feels like he’s got unfinished business. He’s now making this his mission, to go back to Old Trafford and do what he couldn’t do…last time.”

There is of course the possibility that an opportunity for a new manager at Man Utd could arise, with Erik ten Hag under pressure given his side’s dire start to the campaign. FootballTransfers understands that the Dutchman is on thin eyes and could very well be sacked unless there is a marked upturn in form between now and the end of the season.

However, the chances of Mourinho returning appear very slim indeed. The 61-year-old is past his coaching heyday and it is unlikely that he will be considered by INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe as a potential candidate to replace Erik ten Hag.
