When Bayern Munich kick off 2026 at the weekend, they will reportedly do so without Joshua Kimmich.

According to Sky Germany, an ankle injury will keep Kimmich out of Bayerns’s game against Wolfsburg on Sunday.

The 30-year-old was absent from team training on Monday and will not recover in time for the restart.

The Germany captain also missed Bayern’s last game before the winter break – a 4-0 win over 1. FC Heidenheim – because of the injury.

With Kimmich still sidelined, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Leon Goretzka are expected to start in central midfield against Wolfsburg.
