Joshua Zirkzee goads Man City fans following dramatic derby after Andre Onana celebrates Amad Diallo’s winning goal with United supporters

Manchester United‘s players were on cloud nine after coming from behind to win 2-1 at Manchester City in Sunday’s dramatic derby.

United were losing 1-0 courtesy of a first-half strike by Josko Gvardiol until the 88th minute when Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty kick that had been won by Amad Diallo.

Star man Amad then stunned the Etihad Stadium moments later by scoring himself to deliver a victory for Ruben Amorim in his first Manchester derby.

Footage captured by Mail Sport’s Aadam Patel showed United keeper Andre Onana leaping onto an advertising hoarding in front of the away end after Amad’s winner hit the net.

Another video taken by the reporter later showed United forward Joshua Zirkzee goading the City supporters who had been sat behind the dugout by pumping his fists in their direction following the final whistle.

Zirkzee was then encouraged to turn his back and walk away by United team-mate and fellow Dutch international Matthijs de Ligt.

Former Bologna frontman Zirkzee had started the game on the bench before coming on in the 78th minute when United were losing.

Sunday’s result saw United win away at the Etihad for the first time since 2021.

It also extended City’s terrible recent run of results. Pep Guardiola’s men have now failed to win in 10 of their last 11 matches in all competitions – losing eight of them.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day on Sunday night, Guardiola said: ‘Not much to say. No defence.

‘They were incredibly persistent. We have not lost eight games in [the last] two seasons. We can’t defend that. It’s not about this or that player.

‘We gave away goals, our fault. We don’t play with composure. The results are not good, the game was not exceptional. I know the situation, I understand but the reality is this.’

City midfielder Bernardo Silva added during an interview with Sky Sports: ‘We deserved what happened.

‘At this level a game or two is unlucky. We can’t say this is lucky or unlucky – 10 games it’s not about that.

‘Minute 87 in a derby, winning 1-0 and our corner ends in a penalty for them, if we make these stupid decisions with three or four minutes to go you deserve to pay for that. Looking at the game I think there was only one team that could win the game, but at the end we lost.

‘It’s not one game, it’s a lot of games lately. We have to look at ourselves. You can say, “oh it’s a bit unlucky”. But no. It’s the decisions you make. Today in the last minute we played like under-15s.’

City are now nine points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, who have played one game fewer.

However, City are five points better off than United – who remain in the bottom half of the table.
