Julian Schuster extends contract as Freiburg coach

Julian Schuster has extended his contract as SC Freiburg coach.

SC Freiburg have announced a contract extension for head coach Julian Schuster.

Schuster took the reins last summer following the departure of long-serving coach Christian Streich and impressed in his first season in charge, leading the team to a fifth-place finish in the Bundesliga. 

“Julian and his team did some incredibly impressive work last season,” said chief sporting officer Jochen Saier.

“Julian brings a tremendous level of expertise and identification with the club. The team’s development is clearly moving in the right direction and there’s a real sense of togetherness. It just feels right. That’s why we’re delighted to have extended his contract.”

Schuster himself expressed his excitement after signing his new deal. 

“The club and this region mean a lot to me. We have just had a great year and managed to develop a number of good things, not just our final position in the table. I’m delighted to be able to continue working on the team’s development together with my coaching team and the backroom staff.”
