Jurgen Klopp has reportedly contacted Manchester City striker Erling Haaland over a potential summer move to Real Madrid.
Klopp, 58, is currently the Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull Group, but he has been widely tipped to secure a return to management by becoming the new permanent Los Blancos head coach.
The Liverpool legend has emerged as the frontrunner to be appointed as Real Madrid’s next manager, with president Florentino Perez eager to bring Klopp to the Bernabeu ahead of the 2026-27 season.
A deal has not yet been agreed, but Klopp is considered to be the most likely candidate to replace Alvaro Arbeloa in the Bernabeu dugout on a permanent basis.
Erling Haaland to join Real Madrid?
Spanish publication El Nacional now claim that Klopp has contacted the aforementioned Haaland to gauge the possibility of a summer transfer.
The Norway superstar still has over eight years remaining on his current contract at Man City, following his decision to sign a lucrative extension last January, however he continues to be linked with a bombshell move to Real Madrid.
It has been widely reported that Haaland would love to join Los Blancos in the future and El Nacional report that Klopp has phoned the 25-year-old in a bid to convince him to leave Man City.
Klopp has reportedly asked the Real Madrid hierarchy to sign Haaland this summer, with the German keen to move Kylian Mbappe to the left flank and deploy the Man City star as a central striker.
It’s also understood that Klopp would be in favour of selling Vinicius Junior in order to fund a deal for Haaland amid rumours that clubs in the Saudi Pro League are set to rekindle their interest in the Brazil superstar after the 2025-26 season concludes.
However, Man City will be reluctant to sell Haaland this summer and reports suggest they could demand a fee as high as €500 million to sanction a permanent departure.
