Jurgen Klopp stunned Liverpool fans with a video on Instagram straight after Jamie Carragher called for Arne Slot to be sacked. The Reds’ woeful run of form continued on Wednesday night as they suffered a 4-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

The shock defeat at Anfield came after some calamitous errors at the back by the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Milos Kerkez, marking their ninth loss in 12 games this season and the club’s worst run of form in over 70 years.

While working for CBS Sport during the fixture, Liverpool legend Carragher was caught on camera delivering an explosive rant aimed at both Slot and out of form centre back Konate. The former defender’s behind-the-scenes reaction to Liverpool’s dismantling was revealed in a video uploaded to CBS Sports’ Facebook page, in which he called for the Dutchman to be sacked.

He was heard saying: “Oh my God, Konate. Oh my God, Konate. Watch Konate, here. Oh my God. I’ve f****** had enough of them, honest to God, that Konate.”

Carragher was then seen making a call and slamming Slot. He added: “I mean, that’s a sackable offence for the manager, he keeps picking him. He should be sacked for that. Have they scored again, 4-1. What’s this, 9 in 12?”

His comments were part of the wider criticism of Slot, who only months ago was crowned a Premier League champion in his first season with the club. But while the manager is now under serious pressure to save his job, his predecessor, Klopp, is seemingly unfazed by all of the doom and gloom surrounding his former club.

The German, who is currently Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull group after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season, has been linked with a stunning return to Anfield, should Slot be sacked.

It was therefore somewhat bizarre to see Klopp following up the defeat to PSV with an Instagram post where he appeared cheerful while blindly ranking traditional Thanksgiving food items.

He wrote: “Happy Thanksgiving! It’s a good reason to kick-off my preparation for the World Cup next year, and it starts with the most important topic that requires my pundit opinion: FOOD. Can’t wait to find out which stadium has the best hot dogs.”

Despite the growing concerns around Slot’s future, it appears Liverpool are still backing the manager, while Klopp has previously ruled out a return to the dugout.
