Jurgen Klopp faces the possibility of being sacked by Red Bull in his first post since stepping down as Liverpool manager 18 months ago.

Klopp was appointed as the global head of soccer at Red Bull, overseeing the company’s group of clubs worldwide.

His results, though, have not been adequate and there is a serious possibility that the 58-year-old loses his job, according to Salzburger Nachrichten.

Jurgen Klopp: Leaving Red Bull?

Red Bull’s management is dissatisfied with the sporting development of the clubs that Klopp is overseeing.

Its most high-profile clubs are struggling to achieve their aims. RB Leipzig are in a battle to secure a Champions League spot, Red Bull Salzburg may be top in Austria but are not convincingly so, while Leeds United and Paris FC are both in battles against relegations from their respective leagues.

SN claims that Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, who is set to leave the Premier League side in the summer, will take his role.

Red Bull issue Klopp denial

Red Bull have denied that Klopp, who is under contract until 2029, is set to leave his post as head of global soccer.

CEO Oliver Mintlaff said: “This is complete nonsense and totally unfounded. On the contrary, we are extremely satisfied with Jurgen Klopp’s work.”

Next for Jurgen Klopp: Real Madrid?

Klopp is being heavily linked with a return to management, with Real Madrid rumoured to be interested in making him their permanent manager from the summer.

Although Alvaro Arbeloa is in the role, the club have only tentatively suggested that the position is his to keep.

While Klopp previously indicated that he would not return to the dugout, his stance softened when speaking at the end of January.

“I’m in a situation where I feel completely at peace, exactly where I want to be. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. For now, I would say no, but you should never say never. I don’t think I’ll change my mind, but you never know,” he said.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has also hinted that Klopp may take the Real Madrid job.

While Romano denied any interest from Manchester United or Chelsea, he was less committal when it came to the Spaniard.

“Regarding Real Madrid, there is admiration for Klopp from certain figures within the board, but at this stage there are no direct negotiations or formal steps,” he said.

Real Madrid may have an interest in Klopp, who won the Champions League and Premier League at Liverpool, but they are not alone. There is also the possibility that the Germany national team job will become vacant after the 2026 World Cup, and that is a role that could also interest him.
