Jurgen Klopp has been enjoying his time away from football since leaving Liverpool last summer, but the iconic manager has not ruled out a return to Anfield in the future
Jurgen Klopp is relishing his new role away from Merseyside after leaving Liverpool last summer. Despite this, he hasn’t ruled out a return to Anfield as his old team continues to struggle domestically.
Klopp wrote his name into Liverpool’s history books during his time as head coach, clinching the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups and the Club World Cup. In January 2024, he announced his departure from the Reds at the end of the 2023/24 season and has since taken up a job as the global head of football for Red Bull’s football franchise.
Life for Klopp is decidedly more laid-back compared to the hustle and bustle of Anfield, as he embarks on opening a new sports centre in Liverpool with his company Padel FC. The Berlin-based firm, co-owned by the former Reds boss and his son Marc, are gearing up to unveil a new ‘state-of-the-art’ padel facility at Wavertree Sports Park.
But Klopp isn’t just a padel business owner; he’s also an active participant in the popular sport and is frequently spotted playing in exhibitions alongside some of the biggest names. Recently, the 58-year-old teamed up with Argentinian tennis legend Gabriela Sabatini for an event in Mallorca.
The pair faced off against Rafael Nadal’s uncle, Toni, and Denise Hofer, narrowly losing 21-19 to the European duo. Speaking to Spanish media outlet Última Hora post-match, Klopp said: “I met her [Sabatini] yesterday and I never would have imagined being on the court with Gabriela and Toni, and also with Denise.

“Three former tennis players and a former footballer on the same court… that only happens in padel. The beauty of this sport is that everyone can play it. It’s growing a lot in Germany; I play it because I enjoy it… and because afterward, I don’t feel any pain!”
However, Klopp might be considering trading his tranquil life for a potential return to Anfield. Liverpool fans have been expressing concerns about the team’s recent form, with some even clamouring for the legendary manager’s return.
In an interview with the Diary of a CEO podcast, Klopp didn’t entirely dismiss the idea of a Liverpool return. He said: “I said I would never coach a different team in England. So that means if, (I did return to England) then it’s Liverpool. Yeah, theoretically it’s possible.”
If he does decide to return, accommodation won’t be an issue as the Merseyside property he once lived in remains unsold. The six-bedroom house in Freshfield, Formby was put on the market over a year ago for a cool £4.25million.
Despite slashing the asking price to a cool £4m, the breathtaking mansion remains available for purchase. The property boasts a swimming pool complex complete with showers and a sauna, a spa, a gym, and a separate entertainment building.
Nestled in the prestigious ‘Millionaires Row’, the house has been home to numerous Liverpool legends. Former manager Brendan Rodgers once resided there, and legendary midfielder Steven Gerrard was the original owner back in 2005.
