Juventus prepare for restructuring, with or without Giuntoli

Cristiano Giuntoli is under scrutiny at Juventus, and club owner John Elkann is preparing to restructure the club, with or without the current Chief Football Officer, according to reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Juventus are preparing to turn things around on and off the field in the 2025-26 season, and the first changes will occur in the control room.

Multiple sources are reporting that Toulouse President Damien Comolli is likely to move to the Allianz Stadium, and according to the latest Gazzetta report, he is set to become the club’s CEO.

Who could replace Giuntoli at Juventus?

Comolli has already held several roles in football, including Chief Scout, sporting director, and President.

Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini is also expected to have a new role. Currently working as the club’s Head of Football Institutional Relations, the former defender is expected to enter the Bianconeri’s board and potentially become the President in the coming years, replacing Gianluca Ferrero.

Matteo Tognozzi, a former Juventus director now at Granada, is seen as the primary option to succeed Giuntoli as the new Juventus sporting director if the former Napoli director were to leave.

Giuntoli’s position, however, remains under scrutiny, and it is still uncertain whether he’ll leave the club despite a disappointing 2025-26 campaign.

Giuntoli partially solved Juventus’ financial issues, but some of his signings were unconvincing and, mostly, the decision to hire and then sack Thiago Motta in the space of just nine months forced the Juventus ownership to make a €15m capital injection to cover losses.

Giuntoli earns €2m per season at Juventus and is under contract until June 2028.
