Juventus risk selling players to cover costs of sacking Thiago Motta

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that sacking Thiago Motta and his staff will cost Juventus approximately €15m. Therefore, the Bianconeri will need to earn an extra €30m by the end of June to remain in line with their financial targets.

Juventus have sacked Thiago Motta and replaced him with Igor Tudor for the last nine games of the season.

Motta was under contract until 2027, so Juventus will continue paying his salary unless the coach finds a new club in the next two years.

According to the latest report from Gazzetta dello Sport, the sacking of Motta and his staff will cost Juventus €14m to €15m, partially affecting their plans to be profitable by 2026-27.

The report claims that the Juventus target is to end the 2024-25 financial year with a loss below €32m.

The Bianconeri already announced a profit of nearly €17m for the first six months of the financial year, but without Champions League football in the second part of the campaign and being still without a main sponsor, they club will reportedly need a further €30m to remain in line with their financial targets despite Motta’s sacking.

One of the most obvious ways to get this sum is through player trading, which means selling some of their players unless holding company Exor decides to make a new cash injection, which is very unlikely at this stage.
