Amid multiple reports about possible contract extensions for Nico Schlotterbeck and Karim Adeyemi, Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, has broken his silence on the matter.

In an interview with Sky Germany after BVB’s 1-0 win over Augsburg on Friday, Kehl spoke about the rumors that Schlotterbeck and Adeyemi want a release clause in their new contracts.

“I’m generally not a big fan of release clauses in my role. I think you’ll agree with me.

“I also fundamentally fight for players who are completely committed to the club and don’t think about what comes next,” Kehl said.

The BVB boss added that the club would like to find a solution to both players’ extensions as soon as possible. Schlotterbeck has been linked to Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Real Madrid, while Adeyemi’s agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly insisted on having a release clause in his client’s new deal.

Both players have a contract until 2027.
