Joshua Kimmich has stated that he expects his uncertain future with Bayern Munich to be resolved in the near future.

The Germany captain is out of contract at the end of the season, and it remains to be seen whether the parties can agree on a new deal.

“A decision will definitely be made soon. The ball is not in my court,” Kimmich told reporters in the mixed zone after Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

Kimmich was presumably referring to the fact that the club reportedly tired of waiting for him to make a decision recently decided to withdraw their latest contract offer.

“It was my plan to sort it out before the international break. The club wanted it done before the two games in Leverkusen.”

“It’s not about squeezing out the last euro,” he stressed, before praising Bayern’s board member for sport, Max Eberl, for the way he’s handling the talks.

“I can feel that Max is very honest and fights. I really appreciate that.”

Eberl reiterated that he, like Kimmich, wanted to resolve the situation as soon as possible.

“We want a decision. But I want to say again: he is not greedy. That’s nonsense. Everyone is representing their position. At some point, a decision will be made – soon. That’s what we want.”
