“We’re on a really good path right now, and it can define which direction our season takes,” said the striker, who netted his 14th Bundesliga goal of the season this afternoon.

He added: “We’re all over the moon to have seen out the win. It’s very important that we’re capable of winning games like these. Both of our goals were worked beautifully.”

Gladbach’s win in Köpenick saw die Fohlen rise to 7th in the standings, just three points away from the illustrious Champions League places, with RB Leipzig currently occupying the final one.

He went on to say: “What we can be critical of though, was not making more of our chances in the first half. The win was deserved though, and will do us a lot of good.”

Gladbach head coach Gerardo Seoane also echoed similar thoughts: “We put on a very good first-half performance; we controlled possession and worked a number of dangerous openings.”

“We were also on top of things defensively,” said the Swiss coach.

“Berlin switched things up at half time, and that forced us to change something. The team showed incredible defensive resistance against a very tricky opponent. The football we played in the first half was excellent, and so was the fight in the second half.”

With their tails up, Seoane’s men now look ahead to a clash at Borussia-Park against Augsburg.
