The new head coach began his mission at RB Leipzig under the watchful eye of Jürgen Klopp.

Jürgen Klopp attended RB Leipzig’s first session under new head coach Ole Werner this week, as did sporting director Marcel Schäfer.

“The boys have a lot of training sessions ahead of them; today was a very nice warm-up,” Klopp said, in a media briefing.

“The biggest challenge for any coach is building a team into a unit, making a recognizable game plan and bringing a brand of football that people can identify with,” he explained.

Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer went on to express his confidence in Werner, who signed a deal with Die Roten Bullen until 2027.

“If you look into the coaching market, you’ll quickly come across the name Ole Werner. It’s not about what you’ve won, but what you get out of the team’s potential,” he added

Klopp, alluding Werner’s past work, went on to explain what he achieved at Holstein Kiel and Werder Bremen, describing his time with both clubs as ‘exceptional’.
