Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane will not be taking part in Cameroon’s upcoming matches.

The 19-year-old’s agent, Eric Depolo, has confirmed to Kicker that his client will not link up with the national team despite receiving a call-up.

“Christian will not travel to the national team,” Depolo stated.

Kofane has previously been called up twice by the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT), but declined both invitations to focus on his club and avoid fatigue.

According to Depolo, nothing has changed in that regard, even though Bayer 04 initially announced on Sunday that the striker had been called up for international duty.

Kicker reports that Kofane may have become part of an ongoing power struggle between FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o, who was seen with Depolo at the BayArena last month, and Cameroon coach Marc Brys.
