Kompany hails squad depth as Bayern continue to “focus on the details”

Here’s what Bayern gaffer Vincent Kompany had to say in the Allianz Arena mixed zone at full-time.

After Bayern Munich’s 4-0 win over Werder Bremen this evening, Vincent Kompany touched on the Bavarians club’s squad depth and how things have changed in his second season.

“There was a lot of talk at the start of the season about our squad depth, but for me the most important thing is to really have 100% confidence in every single player.

“When someone is out and I have to replace him with someone else, I don’t have the feeling that I have to expect any less. Today was a good day for Tom Bischof. We have to use the entire squad and rely on all players.

“I’m now in my second season here. Things are different to what they were in the first few months last season. It’s no longer about the basics because now they understand and know them. We can now focus on the details.

“When a player has to play in another position or another role, they immediately understand it because we’ve been working together for 16 months,” the Belgian added.

The German record champions also had extra reason to celebrate tonight as their talismanic striker Harry Kane bagged his 100th goal for the club. Kompany gave him special praise.

“It was another great moment for Harry Kane. The way he achieved this record and still puts in so much work for the team, I think that’s the inner hunger and desire he has,” he added.
