Kompany praises Kane's defending: “He's deep into our collective.”

Harry Kane’s three goals (in the same half without any other goals coming in-between) enabled the 31-year-old to collect one of German football’s highest honors. Such an occurrence is known as a “lupenreiner (‘flawless’) hat-trick”. Kane became the first FCB player to accomplish such a feat since Robert Lewandowski’s famous five uninterrupted goals against Wolfsburg back in 2015. 

Speaking at his post-match press conference last night, FC Bayern München trainer Vincent Kompany confessed that how many goals Kane scored and the manner in which he scored them wasn’t on his mind as he stood on the touchline Saturday evening. Instead, Kompany remained focused on how well his team was performing as a collective. 

“One tends to forget how hard he’s worked for the team in the last few games,” Kompany said, “We kept a clean sheet thanks in large part to the fact that he defended as well. I’ve personally observed how deep into the team and collective he is.”

“I’ve nothing to say about his goals,” Kompany continued, “He’ll always score goals. In that sense, his career speaks for itself. Thankfully, he got the opportunity [to score goals] today.”
