In his press conference before facing PSV Eindhoven this evening, Vincent Kompany gave an update on Sacha Boey and is in no rush to start Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies.

“Sacha hasn’t trained that much yet, but he’s finally recovered from this illness. He showed good signs in training today, he can help us for a few minutes.

“He won’t start yet, but it’s fortunate that he’s fit again. This comes at the right time for us,” the Bayern Munich coach told the press ahead of their last game of the UCL league phase.

“We all agree that they [Musiala & Davies] are two good players. Unfortunately, there’s no ‘soft integration’ at this stage of the season; it’s a hard integration.

“Playing time is based on performance, that’s our piece of the puzzle. We’re close to having a complete squad at the most important time of the season.

“The important thing is that we have all our best players in February and March. Stani and Laimer will also be back by then,” said the 39-year-old gaffer.

With regards to rotation during an intense fixture run to rest Harry Kane or other key players, Kompany refused to reveal his plan for taking on the reigning Dutch champions.

“When we have so many games, I don’t decide who plays the day before. I’ll think about it tomorrow after I get up. I have 100% respect for PSV; I know it will be difficult.

“It’s not just about Harry [Kane]. The quality of the pressing also depends on energy – that was our problem against Augsburg.

“I have to consider whether it’s a question of quality or also one of energy – I’ll decide that tomorrow. I want to win, there’s no doubt about that,” he added.
