Speaking to Germany’s main sporting tabloid on Saturday, 33-year-old German World Cup winner Christoph Kramer expressed doubt that he would be able to continue his playing career.

ollowing his release from long-time club team Borussia Mönchengladbach some three weeks ago, former Borussia Mönchengladbach defensive midfielder and German 2014 World Cup winner Christoph Kramer admitted to Germany’s main sporting tabloid that his playing days might be over. “I remain keen on playing football,” Kramer told Germany’s “Sport Bild” tabloid, “All are free to talk to me. If something interesting comes up, I’ll gladly listen. The desire is still strong.”

“I’m no longer optimistic that something might crop up,” Kramer nevertheless continued, “One doesn’t know what will happen, but I wouldn’t wager safe money on it.”

Kramer’s career borders on the verge on the sunset phase after 13 seasons spent playing in the top two German footballing divisions for Gladbach, Bochum, and Leverkusen.
