Sports presenter Laura Woods has discussed the mortifying moment
Prominent sports presenter Laura Woods has disclosed she was left utterly embarrassed after accidentally kissing a “heart-throb” darts legend on the lips. The cringe-worthy blunder occurred after the 38-year-old had finished interviewing Steve Beaton, a former BDO world champion renowned for his devastatingly good looks and dubbed the Bronzed Adonis.
Woods, who was presenting for Sky Sports at the time, says she was left red-faced following a mix-up that resulted in the pair pecking each other on the lips. During an appearance on the Happy Hour podcast, the London-born presenter explained the accidental smooch happened as she attempted to shake Beaton’s hand.
At that moment, the 61-year-old moved in for a hug, with the encounter culminating in an unplanned kiss. “If you don’t know who Steve Beaton is, he’s called the Bronzed Adonis,” she explained. “He is a beautiful man and he spent his whole career being an absolute heart-throb in the world of darts, which doesn’t sound difficult, does it?
“When I finished the interview, I went, ‘Thank you so much’ and I went to shake his hand, he went for a cuddle. Because he’d gone for a cuddle, I like put my arms around him and almost went for a kiss on the cheek.
“He then realised I was in for the kiss so he turned and we kissed on the lips. I was like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’ He was like the holy grail and I’d poisoned it. Anyway, I realised and I went back into the truck, sat down.

“The guys were like, ‘Are you alright?’ I had my head in my hands and was like, ‘I just kissed the Bronzed Adonis on the mouth and I felt his beard’. I felt like I’d done the worst thing in the world but now I revel in that.”
Woods departed Sky Sports in 2022 before joining TNT Sports twelve months later as chief presenter for boxing and UEFA Champions League coverage. She had also previously worked on the talkSPORT breakfast programme before departing in the summer of 2023.
This year, Woods welcomed baby boy Leo with her reality TV star fiancé Adam Collard. The previous year, Woods tragically lost a pregnancy when she was just 11 weeks along.
Speaking on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, the two-time Love Island participant Collard revealed he blamed himself for the heartbreak. He said: “I know it’s a terrible way to look at it, but I felt like it was bad karma for me being on dating shows and upsetting too many people.
“I felt like that was some higher power’s way of being like, ‘Well, there you go, that’s what you have to carry’. I was just a cocky little p***k, being a love rat, jumping from girl to girl. I want to show I’m not that many anymore.”
