Nuno Tavares can hardly be considered untouchable at Lazio.

As we reported on June 8, the club turned down an offer from Al Hilal: Inzaghi was keen, and on the table was a €25 million bid plus potential bonuses.

It was a significant proposal, but Lazio felt it was right to hold firm because they viewed Tavares as non-transferable, convinced that under Sarri he would return to the level he showed in the first half of last season.

Saudi interest in Lazio wing-back Nuno Tavares

In reality, a mix of injuries and other issues has meant Tavares has only just become available again, and it’s difficult to say he currently offers the ideal guarantees for a defensive line that has kept 7 clean sheets in 12 matches.

So attention must be paid to any new approaches from Saudi Arabia, not just from Al Hilal: if a suitable bid arrives, it could well be considered.

Two things shouldn’t be forgotten. First, relying on a wide specialist who is no longer a guaranteed starter would make little sense.

Second, if he is sold, Lazio would owe Arsenal around 40 percent of the fee. A situation to monitor closely.
