Lazio goalkeeper Provedel down with fever ahead of Celtic Champions League visit – report

Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel is at risk of missing Tuesday evening’s visit from Celtic in the Champions League group stage, as he has been struck down by a high fever on the eve of the game.

According to updates from Gianluca Di Marzio, the Lazio stopper did not train on Monday due to his fever and could be rested for the visit of the Scottish champions.

In the event that Provedel is unable to take to the field on Tuesday night, it is believed that 32-year-old Luigi Sepe will be handed his first start for the Biancocelesti.

Unfortunately for Maurizio Sarri, Provedel is not the only Lazio player in doubt for Tuesday’s European tie.

Mattia Zaccagni will be unavailable after picking up an injury during the 2-1 loss to Salernitana on Saturday. Pedro and Felipe Anderson are tipped to start in his absence.

Defenders Nicolo Casale and Alessio Romagnoli will also be sidelined on Tuesday, while Matias Vecino will miss out through suspension.
