Leicester sack TWO members of staff in strong response after Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men were thrashed 4-0 by Brentford

Leicester have responded to their latest Premier League defeat by parting company with two members of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s coaching staff.

Ben Dawson and Danny Alcock, who were appointed by former boss Steve Cooper, left the club on Monday, three days after the humiliating home thrashing by Brentford. 

That result, coupled with Wolves‘ win at Bournemouth on Saturday, left the Foxes five points adrift of safety.

Van Nistelrooy’s side have lost 10 of their previous 11 league fixtures and fans have turned on the players and hierarchy in recent games as they fear an immediate return to the Championship.

The move is thought to have been made with Van Nistelrooy’s blessing, who now has Brian Barry-Murphy, Andy King, Andy Hughes and goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar, the only one of the quartet appointed directly by the Dutchman.

The Foxes’ results have declined since Van Nistelrooy replaced Steve Cooper in November and the Dutchman offered a stark assessment of matters following the 4-0 loss to Brentford.

Gaolkeeping coach Danny Alcock, also employed by Cooper, has also been jettisoned 

He said: ‘We have to accept that we are in a position where every week we face a better team,’ Van Nistelrooy said. 

‘We have to prepare a team to be the best we can be. We cannot ask more from ourselves.

‘In the end you have to look at performing at the maximum of your capabilities. 

‘I cannot ask the players to do more than that. With the squad we have, it’s a huge mountain to climb to stay in this league, a huge one. That’s the reality.’
