RB Leipzig bounced back from their heavy 6-0 opening defeat to Bayern Munich with a 2-0 win over Heidenheim.

After a mauling 6-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in their Bundesliga opener, RB Leipzig were eager to respond as they welcomed Heidenheim to the Red Bull Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The first half was hectic with chances at both ends, but neither side could break the deadlock before the break.

Die Roten Bullen started the second half strongly and took the lead just four minutes in, as Christoph Baumgartner was played in behind the defence and buried the ball into the net in clinical fashion.

The win was practically sealed in the 78th minute when new signing Romulo added a second, delightfully finishing with a clever heel to make it 2-0.

The win marked Ole Werner’s first Bundesliga victory as Leipzig coach, lifting Die Roten Bullen to 10th place ahead of the remaining weekend fixtures.
