RB Leipzig moved up to second in the Bundesliga with a 3-1 victory over 1. FC Köln in Saturday’s late German top-flight fixture.

Assan Ouedraogo fired Die Roten Bullen in front early, but Jan Thielmann quickly restored parity for the visitors.

Just before halftime, Romulo struck to regain Leipzig’s lead, and David Raum went on to add another one with a superb curling free-kick, giving the hosts a two-goal cushion at the break.

Köln had a golden chance to reduce the deficit around the hour mark, but Ragnar Ache could only steer his close-range effort wide.

Leipzig ultimately held firm to claim their third consecutive win, moving into second place ahead of Sunday’s matches, while Köln remain fourth.
