Leipzig officially cut ties with former German youth international Hartmann

RB Leipzig announced on Saturday that they had officially terminated the contract of former promising German youth international Fabrice Hartmann.

After loan-outs to Paderborn and Braunschweig didn’t work out, formerly heavily-capped German youth international Fabrice Hartmann has spent the last two seasons playing on loan with Sligo Rovers in the Irish Premiership. A loan stint originally slated to last a year in West Ireland was extended last summer.

Despite the fact that the 23-year-old did manage some success (eight goals and five assists in 44 appearances in the division), the Dessau native’s German parent cub have opted to no longer carry forward with him. Hartmann’s contract – initially good through the end of the season – was terminated on Saturday.

Hartmann was capped 25 times at Germany U19 level and below between 2016 and 2019. He made one appearance for the RB senior team in a 2018 Europa League qualifier. A particularly nasty ACL tear shortly after his debut ended up sidelining him for well over a year.
