Another update on Benjamin Šeško as Leipzig turn down Newcastle’s first offer.
Earlier today, reports were out that Newcastle United proposed a €75 million offer with an additional €5 million for RB Leipzig for the signing of Benjamin Šeško. According to a story by The Athletic’s David Ornstein and Seb Stafford-Bloor, the Bundesliga club have declined this initial offer by billing it “insufficient”.
However, The Athletic also mentioned Newcastle’s first offer was initiated by Leipzig asking interested parties to offer €75 million plus add-ons. One reason for the rebuff could be Manchester United’s involvement, while they might also look for a bigger bonus payment.
Manchester United are yet to send a bid for the 22-year-old striker. Leipzig’s sporting director Marcel Schäfer confirmed the talks earlier today after Šeško was ruled out of the friendly loss to Atalanta.
