Leverkusen chief says Tah will be sold if he doesn't extend amid Bayern links

Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has made it clear that Jonathan Tah, who is being linked with a move to Bayern Munich, will be sold if he doesn’t extend his contract beyond 2025.

Jonathan Tah has recently been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, with reports claiming that the Bavarians have made contact with the Bayer Leverkusen defender’s camp.

On Sunday, however, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro spoke about the player’s future in an interview with Sky, insisting that the club want to keep him.

However, should Tah decide not to extend his contract beyond 2025, he will be sold, Carro said, as Leverkusen don’t want to lose him for free next year.

“We are a club that doesn’t let players leave on a free transfer. That means we have to extend, otherwise we will sell him,” Carro said.

“We’ll see if he stays with us or goes somewhere else.

“If I try to put myself in Jonathan’s shoes, it might be more interesting for him if he wants to move or would end up moving, maybe not within Germany. Maybe it’s more interesting to move abroad,” Carro added.

Tah has previously admitted that he’s tempted by a move to the English Premier League, with reports suggesting that West Ham have shown an interest in him in the past.

If he were to be sold, he would cost around €20 million, according to Sky.
