While the footballing world awaits one of the big-money signings of the summer in Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen are close to finalizing two defensive reinforcements.

Bayer Leverkusen look forward to two signings in the defensive department early next week. Sky’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Mark Flekken and Axel Tape are expected to sign their contracts at Die Werkself.

Leverkusen will pay €10 million to Brentford for the signing of the Dutch goalkeeper since Lukas Hradecky and Matěj Kovář failed to impress the club’s officials in the past season. The 17-year-old center-back Axel Tape will join Erik ten Hag’s squad after his PSG contract expires at the end of this month.

Flekken has spent two solid seasons in the Premier League since leaving Bundesliga side Freiburg in 2023. Meanwhile, the French U18 defender didn’t feature in PSG’s maiden Champions League triumph, but he started their last two away league games of the season.
