After missing last week’s match against St. Pauli, Patrik Schick returned to the Bayer Leverkusen squad for Tuesday’s 1-0 Champions League win over Inter.

However, the striker remained on the bench for the full 90 minutes as Leverkusen were reluctant to take any risks with him.

Whether he will be fit to face Augsburg on Saturday was still uncertain on Friday, when Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso held his pre-match press conference.

“There was still a risk on Tuesday, so we didn’t play him. Hopefully he’s feeling better now,” said Xabi Alonso.

“We’ll see if he plays today after the final training session. We had yesterday off.”

If Schick misses out, Martin Terrier or Nathan Tella could start up front alongside Florian Wirtz.
