Wrexham have reached an agreement to sign Empoli left-back Liberato Cacace for a fee of €2.5 million plus bonuses, reports from Italy claim.

According to SkySport this evening, the newly-promoted EFL Championship side have completed negotiations for the 24-year-old defender after nearly four years with Empoli in Serie A.

Cacace played 33 times in Serie A for Empoli in the 2024-25 season but was unable to help keep the side in Italy’s top flight. He scored twice in the campaign and was one of the side’s most important players and Wrexham aim to utilise this as they prepare for their return to England’s second-flight.

The Welsh club, the subject of much international attention due to their celebrity ownership and resulting Disney+ TV documentary, will be adding an experienced player to their squad with this signing – the former Wellington Phoenix man having achieved 76 Serie A appearances and 33 caps for the New Zealand national team.
