Ligament injury leaves HSV without Pherai for weeks

The HSV attacker picked up a nasty injury in training.

Hamburger SV announced via social media post this afternoon that Immanuel Pherai will be unavailable for the time being. 

In the Hanseatic club’s first training session of the new season, the Netherlands-born Suriname international picked up a knock. 

The update suggests the midfielder has torn the inner ligaments on his left knee during a tackle. 

Hamburg did not place a time on his return, but stated that the 24-year-old will have to “take it easy” for upcoming training and matches.

Pherai started his German career at Dortmund, then Braunschweig and joined HSV in 2023 for whom he has made 47 appearances to date.
