If you ever need an example of Brighton‘s bravery and determination to do things their way, just look at them appointing a 31-year-old manager in Fabian Hurzeler.

The German is the Premier League‘s youngest-ever permanent boss, earning his move after promotion to the Bundesliga with St. Pauli last season.

He could hardly have asked for a better start to life on the south coast, smashing Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park to send the Seagulls soaring to the top of the table.

On the latest episode of It’s All Kicking Off!, Ian Ladyman poses the question to Chris Sutton: how would you have felt playing for such a young boss?

Listen to It’s All Kicking Off! here:

Brighton have put huge faith in Fabian Hurzeler by making him the Premier League’s youngest-ever permanent manager at the age of 31

Sutton opens up on what players are looking for in a manager and how much their age and experience matters.

There’s one thing for certain: appointing a youthful continental coach ‘would not have happened’ in the era when Sutton was tormenting defences.

Every manager in the Premier League’s debut season was from England, Scotland, Wales, or Ireland – Joe Kinnear was as exotic as it got.
