Aston Villa and Liverpool are set to hold talks over the terms of Harvey Elliott’s season-long loan move at Villa Park.
The clubs agreed a deal last summer that meant Elliott would move to Villa for £35million in summer 2026 as long as he made 10 appearances.
When it quickly became apparent Villa boss Unai Emery did not rate Elliott highly enough to spend that sum, the 22-year-old found himself on the sidelines.
After appearing as a substitute in Villa’s 2-0 win at Feyenoord on October 2, Elliott was left in the cold.
Yet he has now appeared in each of Villa’s last two matches, taking his appearance tally to eight, and Daily Mail Sport understands the clubs will now seek to revise the loan arrangement.

These discussions can take place after the transfer deadline.
It suits neither the clubs nor the player for Elliott to remain out of the picture until the end of the season.
Villa have a player they cannot use while Liverpool watch helplessly as his value declines.
So the fresh talks are likely to centre around raising the appearance target to trigger the obligation, or converting the obligation to buy into an option.
