Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
Tsimikas joined Liverpool from Olympiacos on a five-year contract in 2020 and the terms of the 27-year-old’s new deal have not been disclosed.
The Greece left-back told Liverpool’s official website: ‘I feel very glad to be here to extend my contract. I feel like all the sacrifices I did and other things, the work I put in, everything pays off.
‘But this keeps me fully motivated for the rest. As I’ve said in many, many interviews, this team has many, many things to achieve all together and I wanted to be from the first minute a part of it.’
Tsimikas, who is affectionately known as the ‘Greek Scouser’ among the club’s fanbase, has made 63 appearances and provided 12 assists since joining Liverpool for a fee of around £11.7million.

He has made one Premier League appearance this season, off the bench against Bournemouth in August and started in last week’s Europa League win against LASK in Austria.
Tsimikas also helped Liverpool achieve FA Cup glory in 2022, slotted the decisive penalty during Liverpool’s final against Chelsea.
But in an interview with the club’s website, Tsimikas spoke of his desire to help his team win more major honours, saying: ‘[I’m targeting] more success, more work and more trophies.
‘For me it is the most important thing, to win trophies, to be committed in every situation, to be part of all of this.
‘I think this team has very big potential to win more trophies and we will go for it. Everybody, I think, is 100% there [and] focused for the next games and everybody is ready to achieve big things in the future.’
Liverpool have enjoyed a good start to the new Premier League campaign, winning five of their opening six matches, dropping points only to Chelsea during their 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge at the beginning of the season.

At the start of September, it was reported that Jurgen Klopp was keen to reward the Greek defender for his importance in the squad with a new contract.
And speaking on his manager, Tsimikas said: ‘He has always tried to help me, to be honest, with the things I want.
‘I think he gave the green light to sign this contract and show me that he wants me in the club so I am really glad to have him and he is always there for me.
‘So, I really appreciate it and thank him for everything [over] all these years and the years that will come.’
He added: ‘The Greek Scouser is here and he is here to stay!’
