Liverpool have reportedly earmarked Paris Saint-Germain superstar Ousmane Dembele as a top transfer target for 2026 amid their pursuit of a suitable replacement for Mohamed Salah.
The Reds are in the market for a high-profile new winger and they have identified a number of options across European football over the past few months as they ramp up discussions over a blockbuster deal.
RB Leipzig starlet Yan Diomande has emerged as a key priority as a result of his immense form during his debut season in the Bundesliga, while Arne Slot’s side continue to be linked with a move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.
However, they have now sounded out Dembele as a potential alternative, according to Fichajes.
The reigning Ballon d’Or winner will only have two years remaining on his current PSG contract this summer and talks over an extended deal have reportedly stalled. As a result, he has been tipped to leave the Parc des Princes this year, with rumours speculating that an eye-catching move to Arsenal could potentially be on the cards.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Pro League is “laying the groundwork” for a bombshell summer deal for the France international, according to Sky Sports News.
Despite this, Liverpool have now reportedly joined the race for Dembele’s signature in 2026.
Ousmane Dembele to Liverpool?
Arne Slot’s side are actively searching for a new winger this year, with Mohamed Salah expected to leave the club following the conclusion of the 2025-26 season.
The Egypt legend signed a new contract until 2027 last year, however a public bust-up with Slot before the Africa Cup of Nations means he is on the verge of departing Anfield after a hugely successful nine-year stay.
Dembele is regarded as a suitable replacement and it’s claimed that he is eager to join Liverpool later this year.
The Frenchman has scored eight goals and provided six assists in 21 games so far this season, while his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €97.8 million.
