Liverpool fans have been urged by Thai police to avoid a scam surrounding Jurgen Klopp‘s potential replacement Xabi Alonso.

Life has been tough enough for Reds supporters in recent weeks after learning long-time manager Klopp will be leaving at the end of the season.

After winning a Premier League and Champions League trophy during his time at Anfield, it will be extremely difficult for anyone to replace him.

And while it appears current Bayer Leverkusen manager Alonso – who played for Liverpool – might be the perfect option, there has been a dangerous scam involving his name scouring the internet, according to Sport Bible.

Police in Thailand – where the Premier League is hugely popular – have warned con artists’ plots which use Alonso’s official Instagram account to ask to pay for his flight to Anfield.

While many Liverpool fans would be more than happy to pay for the flights of the 42-year-old Bundesliga manager, police are warning against it.

The region’s Central Investigation Bureau took to Facebook to alert fans who might take it seriously.

A statement read: ‘Liverpool fans, calm down. Xabi is not yet the manager, but there is already a scammer.’

Following Klopp’s shock decision, there has been much talk about what will happen to Liverpool’s ‘fab four’.

Virgil van Dijk has publicly not committed his future to the club, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract is set to expire in 2025,.

Meanwhile, there has been some interest from the Saudi pro league in Mohamed Salah and Alisson.
