Liverpool are in pole position to land Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi despite interest from other European clubs, according to Cadena SER.
The England international was on the verge of joining the Reds last summer. A verbal deal worth £35 million was agreed between the clubs and the centre-back also underwent a successful medical.
However, Palace decided to pull the plug on the transfer at the final hour. Manager Oliver Glasner was adamant on keeping Guehi after the Eagles could not find a suitable replacement for him.
Guehi is now expected to leave when his contract expires next summer, and reports claim that Arne Slot‘s side are the front-runners to land him despite fresh interest coming through Barcelona this month.
Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest, but there is an expectation that the defender will choose the Reds when his deal with the Eagles formally concludes.
Liverpool could also make a winter attempt for the 25-year-old, but the Eagles are unlikely to entertain a mid-season transfer.
