- It’s All Kicking Off!: Why can’t Chelsea win the league? They made seven changes and still scored five. Do you think Liverpool could do that?
Liverpool have made an opening contract offer to Mohamed Salah as they look to ensure he stays at the club.
As reported by The Athletic, an agreement with Salah hasn’t yet been reached but talks are ongoing over a new deal, with the winger’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.
It is expected that it could take some time for Liverpool to reach an agreement with Salah regarding his future.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, who are also in the final year of their deals, have also received proposals.
Salah, who has been at Liverpool since 2017, has again emphasised his importance to the club this season by scoring 13 goals and providing eight assists in 14 Premier League appearances.
The Egypt international had expressed concern last month about not having received a contract offer from the club.

Arne Slot will be eager for Salah, whose deal expires at the end of the season, to stay
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk have also received proposals for new deals
However, Liverpool are now taking steps to try and ensure that the 32-year-old remains at the club.
Liverpool’s encouraging start to the season under Arne Slot – they are four points clear of their closest challengers Chelsea at the top of the Premier League with a game in hand – could help to encourage Salah to stay.
Ensuring that Alexander-Arnold, 26, and Van Dijk, 33, remain at Anfield will also be hugely important for Liverpool.
Last month, Salah had revealed his disappointment at not having been offered a new deal by Liverpool at that stage.
Speaking to a small selection of reporters after Liverpool’s win at Southampton, Salah said: ‘We are almost in December and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay in the club. I’m probably more out than in.
‘You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this. But in the end it is not in my hands. As I said, it is December and I haven’t received anything yet about my future.
‘I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it is not in my hands or the fans’ hands.’
In total, Salah has scored 226 goals in 370 appearances for Liverpool.
During his time at the club he has won the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups.
