Liverpool could make an approach to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi with Jarell Quansah on his way to Bayer Leverkusen.
The Reds recently secured the services of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen. Quansah will now head in the opposite direction.
The Reds graduate has already agreed on personal terms with the German giants and a deal worth £30 million plus add-ons will be sorted soon.
This could pave the way for a new arrival, and the Reds could revive their long-term interest in signing Guehi over the coming days.
The England international will enter the last year of his Palace contract next month and he is widely expected to head for the exit door.
Newcastle United are also long-term admirers of the former Chelsea man, but Liverpool could have an upper hand in the transfer race.
Guehi could be tempted to join the Reds due to their silverware record. He may still want assurances of regular playing time next term.
