Conor Bradley has confessed he is frustrated with the amount of yellow cards he has picked up so far this campaign for Liverpool and Northern Ireland. The 22-year-old has been cautioned five times across his 10 outings this term for the Reds.

With three bookings in the Premier League, he sits just two cautions away from serving a one-match ban. His next yellow in the Champions League will also trigger a suspension.

If the full-back had been shown a card against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday evening – a match Liverpool won 5-1 – he would have missed next month’s showdown with Real Madrid.

Bradley was also recently sidelined for Northern Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Germany due to suspension, after collecting bookings in their previous two fixtures.

The defender has disclosed he was acutely aware of his precarious disciplinary situation before taking on Frankfurt, following discussions with one of Arne Slot’s coaching team prior to kick-off, reports the Liverpool Echo.

“Obviously I’m not very happy with the yellow cards I’m getting,” he said. “It’s something I had in the back of my mind.

“One of the staff told me that one more yellow and I’m suspended. It’s not nice to hear.

“It’s something in the back of my mind and something I have got to watch out for as well because I’ve been picking up a few too many recently.

“Something to keep an eye on but thankfully I didn’t get one tonight.”

Bradley could be handed an extended spell in Liverpool’s first team after Jeremie Frimpong picked up a hamstring problem against Frankfurt, with Arne Slot confirming after the match he anticipates the Dutchman being out for several weeks.

Consequently, the Northern Irishman’s fitness will prove even more vital for the Reds in upcoming matches.

However, whilst Frimpong’s setback will present Bradley with an opportunity, he remains optimistic his teammate won’t be absent for an extended period.

“It’s difficult because you’re not really ready for it,” he told LFC TV when questioned about his early introduction, having been dismissed after just 19 minutes.

“Obviously I was just sitting on the bench, as you do, watching the game.

“The next thing Jeremie goes down and I have to come on. You always have to be prepared for it. Thankfully I was prepared for it.

“Hopefully Jeremie’s injury is not too bad and he’ll be back soon.”

Liverpool return to action away at Brentford on Saturday night, with Bradley expected to feature in the Reds’ starting lineup in Frimpong’s absence.
