Liverpool STUNNED as Dominik Szoboszlai tipped to leave

Liverpool superstar Dominik Szoboszlai “dreams” of playing for Real Madrid, according to his Hungary national team head coach.

The 25-year-old has been a standout performer since his arrival at Anfield in 2023 and he has been widely tipped to sign a lucrative new contract before the start of next season.

Szoboszlai recently confirmed that talks over a new deal have taken place, although a final decision has not yet been made, with the Hungary midfielder’s current contract due to expire in 2028.

It’s understood that Liverpool are keen to finalise an agreement with the former RB Leipzig star, but Diego Rossi, the Hungary boss, has revealed that Szoboszlai could instead follow in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s footsteps by joining Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are in the market for a new central midfielder this summer and they could feasibly opt to pursue a deal for the Liverpool ace if he declines the Reds’ contract extension proposal.

Dominik Szoboszlai to join Real Madrid?

Speaking to WinWin (via TEAMtalk), Rossi admitted: “Dominik is currently one of the best players in the ranks of Liverpool and the Premier League, thanks to his outstanding form, where he has developed a lot and clearly.

“He is currently one of the best players in Europe and the world, and it is natural that there are clubs that will be interested in signing him.

“From what I have heard and what I know, and because of the very good and direct relationship I have had with Dominik since he started playing football as a child, Real Madrid was his dream.

“Dominik, ever since he started playing football, has had one dream, which is to play for Real Madrid.”

However, Rossi refused to completely rule out the possibility of Szoboszlai penning fresh terms at Liverpool instead, despite his desire to join Real Madrid.

“He’s currently playing for Liverpool and they’re a big team in the Premier League. I don’t know if he can take that step, because it depends on his personal decision, as well as his club’s decision,” Rossi added.

“The idea that is always in your mind is to achieve your dream and make that dream a reality, and in my opinion, that is the only thing, and the most important thing, that can dominate Szoboszlai’s thinking.

“But on the other hand, I don’t rule out the possibility that he will stay at Liverpool and renew his contract there, especially since he is highly regarded within the club.

“He is a very important player for Liverpool, and Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
