Liverpool superstar wants to join Barcelona next summer

Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is determined to move to Barcelona next year, according to Spanish and Colombian media.

The 27-year-old has reportedly been locked in contract talks with Liverpool for some time, but so far, there has been no breakthrough in negotiations.

In fact, in recent days and weeks, there has been speculation that the talks have actually hit an impasse, which comes amid a bit of a dip in form from the player.

The lack of positive news regarding a contract extension has given rise to rumours that an exit could be on the cards in the not-too-distant future. Diaz, or rather his family, has never made a secret of the Colombian’s dream to one day play for Barcelona.

And if the latest reports coming out of Spain and his home country are anything to go by, he is determined to turn his dream into a reality.

Diaz pushing for Barcelona move

Catalan outlet Sport has cited a report from Colombia’s Antena2 in which the future of Diaz is discussed. It is claimed that talks over his new deal have come to a standstill and the player is increasingly looking for a change of scenery.

Diaz’s ‘clear priority’ is to play for Barcelona and a move could materialise as early as next summer. However, Liverpool are said to be demanding €80 million for the 27-year-old, which casts doubt on the LaLiga club’s ability to sign him.

His contract situation could improve Barcelona’s negotiating position, though. With his current deal up in 2026, Liverpool may be forced to reduce their asking price unless they want to risk losing him for nothing.

It is further claimed that Milan and PSG are interested in signing Diaz, with the latter already previously having shown an interest in the tricky winger.
