Liverpool’s ideal Salah replacement confirms he wants Anfield move

Liverpool have been rocked by the news Mohamed Salah is likely to leave the club at the end of the season.

Salah made the revelations when speaking following the Reds’ 3-2 Premier League victory over Southampton. During that encounter at St Mary’s, he underlined his importance to the club by scoring twice.

The 32-year-old, meanwhile, is linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, where there have long been rumours of a massive contract offer that, purely in financial terms, Liverpool will not be able to match.

Among the players tipped to replace Salah at Anfield should he leave is PSV winger Johan Bakayoko.

The Belgium international even issued a come-and-get-me plea of sorts to Arne Slot before he had even taken over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool in the summer. The 21-year-old made it abundantly clear that the Reds could be an attractive option to him.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Bakayoko explained what he is looking for from his next club.

“Appreciation, good coach, good teammates, ambition to become champions and play in the Champions League,” he confirmed.

Liverpool, who have long been linked with the wide man, would appear to tick every one of those boxes.

Bakayoko is under contract at PSV until 2026, but with just 18 months left on his deal at the Eindhoven side, Liverpool can start to exert some pressure on them in a bid to force their hand.

He has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €51.8 million, making him the most valuable player in the Eredivisie presently.

This is a fact that underlines his important to PSV, who are set to hold out for as large a fee as possible.

The Eredivisie record sale presently stands at the €95m Ajax received when they sold Antony to Manchester United, and while Liverpool may not pay that much for Bakayoko, they would almost certainly have to break the record for PSV’s biggest sale, which is a €45m agreement that took Hirving Lozano to Napoli in 2019.
