Liverpool are exploring the possibility of securing the signing of Kylian Mbappe – but only if Mohamed Salah leaves, FootballTransfers understands.

The Reds are keen on the Paris Saint-Germain attacker and will look to persuade him to join up at Anfield, though they will only do so if Salah departs the club in a megamoney move to the Saudi Pro League.

We are told that Salah has not informed Jurgen Klopp of his desire to move away, while it will only take a huge offer for them to allow the winger to be sold.

Mbappe’s contract is up at the end of this season, and he has given no indication that he will be willing to activate the option of a further year, meaning that he will be assessing his options.

It means that there is a real possibility that the superstar will leave PSG for nothing next summer. Real Madrid has been extensively linked to the Frenchman, but each of their past attempts to secure his signature has been thwarted.

How much does Mbappe earn at PSG?

It’s thought that Liverpool are looking at options in which they could make Mbappe snub Los Blancos and join them instead. The Liverpool hierarchy is said to be assessing the financial implications of a potential departure for Salah, though they remain resolute in their position of not being open to any sale.

But if an exceptional offer were to come in, the Reds may reconsider this position and potentially use the money to put against Mbappe’s wages.

The 2018 World Cup winner star is currently roughly £2m per week from PSG, which would easily make him the highest earner at Liverpool by a significant margin. Salah’s contract will be in its final year by June, with his latest terms up until the end of the 2024-25 season.
