Liverpool‘s chances of winning the Premier League title this season are more than 10 times higher than they were at the start of the campaign.

That is according to the Opta supercomputer, which uses statistics and data to predict where the Premier League trophy will end up.

On August 15, the day before the season kicked off, Liverpool’s were estimated to have only a 5.1 per cent chance of winning the title.

Back then, City were overwhelming favourites with an 82.2% probability, while Arsenal were said to be their closest rivals with a 12.2% shot.

If supercomputers have feelings then Opta’s will likely have been shocked by how the season has gone so far.

Mo Salah scored his 10th goal of the season as Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Saturday night

Title rivals Manchester City lost 2-1 at Brighton & Hove Albion earlier on Saturday evening

Arne Slot‘s Liverpool currently top the table after taking an impressive 28 points from their opening 11 fixtures.

Meanwhile, City have lost four games in a row in all competitions for the first time during the Pep Guardiola era and are sat five points below Liverpool.

Even further back are Arsenal, with just 18 points from 10 games – although the Gunners can climb to within just two points of City if they win away at Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of that game at Stamford Bridge, the Opta supercomputer currently estimates that Liverpool have a 59.3% chance of winning the league.

City are now the second favourites with a 36.2% probability, while Arsenal’s chances have dropped to 4.1%.

Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday night, shortly after seeing City lose 2-1 at Brighton.

It was not a perfect day for the Reds though, as Trent Alexander-Arnold left the field early with an injury issue.

Speaking after the game, manager Slot said: ‘We are really happy that most of our players have stayed fit through this tough run. We have to wait and see how Trent is doing.’

Liverpool’s win saw Arne Slot’s men move five points clear at the top of the Premier League

Saturday’s results left Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal with just a 4.1% chance of winning the title, according to the Opta supercomputer

Slot added: ‘If I look at the games that are ahead, they are tough. It will be a tough season in general.

‘Margins are small, we have a margin, but it is small. Many challenges to come for us.’

Liverpool’s next game is after an international break on November 24 when they travel to Southampton.

Three days after that Real Madrid will visit the Reds in the Champions League.

December will then kick off with a huge test of Liverpool’s Premier League title credentials when City come to Anfield.
