Lyon are pushing to agree a £30million deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala.

The move is thought to be triggered by Forest’s financial concerns brought about by the Premier League charging the club with a breach of their profitability and sustainability regulations, putting the club under pressure to sell players.

The fee is almost triple what Forest had originally paid for the player when he moved to the Premier League side from VfB Stuttgart in 2022.

Mangala has also been linked with Napoli, Juventus and Galatasaray.

‘Like all the players, we have to be ready for everything,’ Forest boss Nuno said when asked about Mangala’s situation earlier this month.

‘There will be ins and outs.

‘Orel is part of the group and is training well. When I arrived he was playing and now he’s not. He is a professional and in this situation he is working very hard and preparing for the matches. We will just have to wait and see.’

The French side are also in advanced talks to sign Said Benrahma from West Ham for £15m plus add-ons.

West Ham still want cover as talks over an 18 month loan for Al Ittihad winger Jota hit a hitch over tax issues.
